Marshall Point Lighthouse & Museum

At the very end of Marshall Point Road is the beautiful Marshall Point Lighthouse. Since it was first built in 1832, the lighthouse and Keeper’s house have had several renovations due to fires. John Watts was the first light Keeper. The light was automated in 1971 and didn’t need a Keeper anymore. The museum opened in 1990 and is staffed entirely by volunteers. It houses volumes of history about the families of Port Clyde and artifacts of fishing and lobstering. It also has a gift shop. Check out the special exhibit of mini painted lobster buoys! In 1993 a scene from the movie “Forrest Gump” was filmed here.
